I've left my memoir untouched for a while, having friends and family (oops) read it for feedback. Fortunately, they were pretty direct so the feedback was helpful, if not overwhelming. But with the insights from this post, I'll begin again.

thanks, TheresaTheresahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11209939417916009187noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7071197508859706097.post-23135572982237774112010-12-01T08:34:17.559-05:002010-12-01T08:34:17.559-05:00Julie,

"You revise with your head."

That's what I do. I've been at my YA fantasy novel, Lethal Inheritance for 3 years - I've written 2nd drafts of the 3 sequels as well in that time though. I thought it was as good as I could get it, but after a bit of feedback from potential publishers, my agent told me to look at it again.

I'm doing that now - it's not big revision, but it's more than copy editing. I'm making sure that after 7 drafts and about 20 edits, my vision and my passion is still there.I'm bringing the heart back into the thinking and I'm getting a richer book for it.

Even at the revising stages we mustn't let our head kill our heart. It's a matter of emphasis.

If you're interested you can see ch 1 on my blogsite.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7071197508859706097.post-54851967551493516532010-11-28T17:42:50.281-05:002010-11-28T17:42:50.281-05:00Susan,

It was exactly what I needed at this point in time as I come to the end of my first draft of a book I've been working on for years. So, again, thank you. From a first time writer with no experience but lots of heart. :) - SusanAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
